This project was largely done to this pattern, but I made my own shell border, head, feet, and tail.  It was a last minute addition to an already full gift bag for a baby shower.  The flower on top matches a blanket I made.  I did the top and bottom flowers with an E hook and the head, feet, and tail with an F hook.  The yarn is Caron Simply Soft in “Lavender Blue,” “White,” “Cobalt Blue,” and “Soft Green.”)

For the feet (make 4)

  1.  in a magic circle, sc 6 (6)
  2.  2sc in each st (12)
  3. (sc, 2sc) six times (18)
  4.  sc in each st (18)
  5.  sc in each st (18)
  6.  sc in each st (18)
  7.  (sc2tog, sc) six times (12)
  8. sc in each st (12)
  9. sc in each st (12)
  10. sc in each st (12)
  11. turn, sc 4, end leaving a tail for sewing

I didn’t write down how I did the head, but it was something like

  1. in a magic circle, sc 6 (6)
  2.  2sc in each st (12)
  3. (sc, 2sc) six times (18)
  4.  sc in each st (18)
  5. (sc 2, 2sc) six times (24)
  6. sc in each st (24)
  7. sc in each st (24)
  8. sc in each st (24)
  9. sc in each st (24)
  10. sc in each st (24)
  11.  (sc 2, sc2tog) six times (18)
  12. sc in each st (18)
  13. sc2tog four times, sc 10 (14)
  14. sc2tog twice, sc 8 (12)
  15. sc all for a few rounds

for the tail

  1. starting in a magic circle, sc 5 (5)
  2. sc in each st (5)
  3. sc in each st (5)
  4. 2sc, sc4 (6)
  5. sc in each st (6)
  6. sc in each st (6)
  7. 2sc, sc 5 (7)
  8. sc in each st (7)
  9. sc in each st (7), end, leave tail to sew to body

The border around the shell was a round of sc and then a round of (sc, hdc), (hdc, sc), ss
