I had a request a couple months ago to crochet a European sparrow, in mid-flight, with some modifications (it will be wearing a costume.  Don’t ask.)

As is typical, I had to mull over it for a while before getting started.  I ended up using this bird pattern from Lime Green Lady, just making different wings and modifying the tail a little.  It is a wonderful pattern, and came with the added bonus of challenging me to read British crochet while thinking in American crochet and also somehow get the markings right.

It is a Eurasian Tree Sparrow.  This is obviously without the costume, but I like it better this way.

And, with the costume.  It is supposed to be a lion mane with bull horns.  It looks a lot like a bison to me.
