About This Blog

me·nag·er·ie  /məˈnajərē,məˈnaZHərē/  noun

  • a collection of wild animals kept in captivity for exhibition.
  • a strange or diverse collection of people or things.

The blog: It is primarily about crochet.  I started to crochet in 2012 and I enjoy designing my own crochet patterns: quick, easy, realistic animal patterns.  I have made a dozen types of dinosaurs, cats, dogs, horses, lobsters, octopuses, lions, tigers, bears (oh my!), zebras, and on and on.  Even a naked mole rat.  Fortunately, I jotted down notes while making most of them and someday will hopefully write them all up as patterns.

I am an impulsive crafter, and there will probably be excursions into sewing, knitting, and other crafts.  Gardening and cooking might be mentioned.  I would like to learn to quilt.  There are likely to be many unfinished projects.

The family:  I have been married to my husband since 2006.  We have four boys and a little girl.  R was born in December 2007, Big A in August 2009, O in April 2011, Little A in October 2013, and Miss C was born in January 2016.  I’m 99% sure our family is complete.  We have 2 cats, which we welcomed to our home in 2006.  I am trying to talk my husband into letting me get a dog when Miss C is 3 or 4 years old.
